Canterbury, Kent, England
I live in a 3 bedroomed detached house in a small village 10minutes from Canterbury. I have a large garden and a conservatory and garage. The house was bought for £385,000 a year ago and our mortgage is £1,200 per month. We pay about £50 per month for oil to heat the house and the water. We also pay about the same in electricity per month. A weekly food shop for a family of two adults and two young children is about £100-150 per week depending on how high you go with quality. We work from home so eat virtually all meals at home. Health care is NHS funded so you only have to pay for some prescriptions and some treatments. Education can be free in state run schools or you can pay about £4000 per school term for a private school in Canterbury.
We visit the local zoo with the kids which is about £15 per adult to visit and the ticket is valid for a year. There's also Farming World which is between £60-80 for a season ticket for an adult and child or two adults and a child, under 3s go free.
Restaurants in Canterbury vary but most charge about £6-10 per main meal. Parking your car in Canterbury car parks are about £1 per hour.
The gym in Canterbury is about £30-40 per month depending on whether you go peak or off peak. The gym has a free car park.
There are a few free entry outdoor areas with childrens play areas and areas to walk dogs. Canterbury is close to several beaches which get busy in the summer.
