My costs are cheaper cos I still live with the parentals (tragic at 23 I know....)

However, renting a single grotty room in oxford is upwards of £400 per month, and a small flat is probably around £600-700.

I drive 350 miles a week and this costs me in my Ford ka around £50 a week in petrol.

Clothes usually cost around £10-30 for tops (less if you go to Primark) and the same for trousers. I prefer non-primark so my clothes cost more than average.

If you're coming here on holiday then museums can be free but some cost around £5 to get in. The cinema is about a fiver but this varies.

Eating out:

Starters are usually around £3-4
Main course about £8-9
Dessert is £4-5

A bottle of wine out is generally around the £10 mark although more in some restaurants and less in some (dodgy) bars.

A beer is around £3-4 a pint, not sure, don't drink beer a lot

Spirit and mixer is probably £3-4 depending on where you go, usually not a lot more for a double.

Entrance to clubs is around £5 although some are free before 11 and on less busy nights.

Hope this helps anyone coming here and if anyone wants to help me with going to New Zealand for working holiday/couple of months jolly? How much are the same things there?

Cheers

J

Rent: £390 for a 2 person student flat in East Oxford

Utilities: about £50 a month for water, gas and electricity.

Food: Anywhere between £65 and £100 a month

Healthcare: i am a student so nothing.

Transport: is very expensive not sure of exact costs but with one tank of petrol and occasional bus travel i spend in the region of £50 a month.

Recreation: there is something to do any day of the week here. There is a large folk scene which can be very cheap to get involved with - depending on how much you drink as the sessions are held in pubs.
