-Rent: 750GBP for a small studio apartment. I.e. one living room with foldaway bed and kitchenette in one corner. Separate shower room. However, nothing is shared and I have my own front door.

-Utilities: about 125GBP per month.

-Public transport: 95 per month for an Oyster travelcard, permitting unlimited travel within London (centre and out to Zone 4).

I am relatively poor - but not too close to the edge!

2 bedroom flat in zone 3, close to tube rent is £900 per month, which is an OK deal.

bills and council tax come to around £60 each per month

travel expenses are at least £20 a week if you commute any distance to work.

I spend £15-25 a week on food.

The biggest expense is booze. You can pay up to £4.50 but usually about £3 per pint.
