Default Thailand

- Rent for a house, low end, unfurnished, is from US$ 1'000 to 2'500 per month.

- Electric for the same house will be about 200 but depend a lot on A/C usage.

- Cars are extremely costly due to tax very very small car is about us$ 14'000 to buy and lease with 30% DP is about 300 per month.

- Food is more expensive than in USA in any case if you eat like an expatriate. If you eat like a Thai you will spend about $300 per month per person. Don't drink wine or beer, it is extremely expensive. lowest price for one bottle California wine is $17.00

- one bottle of Cola is $.75 (1L)
- can of beer is $ $.97 was $.50 not long ago
- expresso small cup is $2.00 was 1.00 not long ago

-Hospital and doctors are now as expensive as other places of the world. Doctor fee (1 outpatient visit) is $60 for 10 minutes.

- Taxi Cab are still cheap (if they don't cheat you) $50 for 80 miles

-Internet connection (for very bad connection) is about $70 per month for something you can't use as bad it is. No way to chat on Skype or messenger and barely able to download an attachment.

In few words cost of life has double in a couple of years in Thailand and become very close to USA for a quality of life which very bad.

Most of the prices quoted by the original poster is extremely overpriced. I know it, since I am Thai and live in Thailand. Check my IP. To give you a better idea a decent 512k/s ADSL internet connection costs 21 USD per month. A decent meal in a lowend typical Thai restaurant as well as in food center in department stores cost no more than 1.5 usd. A 5 kilometer taxi ride cost about 2 usd.
