Thumbs up Leyte, philippines

rent for best two bedroom house in palo , Leyte with hot water and air conditioning and all modern conveniences and furnished with excellent furniture is php 15,000. That is USD 300.

Excellent meal at air conditioned restaurant is PhP200 which is four u.s.dollars.

The best hotel would be three star in USA cost $40 daily, and less, sometimes much less, on a monthly contract. Always negotiate ahead of purchase . often the two thousand peso room can be had for one thousand pesos , twenty dollars.

You buy the petrol and pay the driver and the car 2000 pesos per day (USD 40) Don't even think about driving in Philippines.

Smile. Be patient. Learn a few Tagolog or Waray or Cebuana works. Be courteous even when you think you have been slighted, then avoid THAT place in the future. Their loss not yours.

Monsoon in November and June. Carry LARGE umbrella. There is much rain every day in November and June.

When it is hot, it is HOT and humid. You need access to swim pool and air conditioning. Do not eat from street vendors until you have been around long enough to learn who to trust and who to avoid.

If you do not have car and driver, transportation is CHEAP. Jeepneys are crowded and tricycles are small and pedicabs are the cheapest of all. Travel from Marnila to Subic in an air conditioned van with other passengers for 200 pesos $4. US. An air conditioned bus is about the same.
