Default Muscat, Oman

It can be very cheap to live in Muscat but we cprefer to live in a new free zone (where expats can purchase their own proprty). I just like to have that community feel and security and also love the beautifully designed houses with pools of their own. Rent is 1500 omr. You can get a 4 bedroom villa i an OK area for 700 OMR.

utilities 200 omr per month per month

food 600 per month (grocery shopping). Pork is very expensive (6 OMR for 8 slices of bacon). It can cost from 2 OMR to have a take out meal. To dine somewhere special it approx 20 - 30 OMR per person for 3 courses without wine.

Health care paid for by company but it costs about 20 OMR for a consultation.

To join a bech club it will cost 1000 OMR for a year but we haven't done so as the beach is very close and we have our own pool. the local gym costs 200 OMR for a yearly membership..

There isn't a great public transport link here so you would need a car. Petrol is incrediby cheap (it costs 10 OMR to fill up a Landrover discovery 4L).
