Costs of living in Tijuana, Mexico


Home price in upscale area : 250,000 USD for 2,000 sqft living space

Utilities: Elect 100-110 mo, Gas 45 mo, water-sew 35 mo,Phone-Internet 90 mo,cable or dish TV varies 30-80mo

Food is inexpensive especially mexican produce, lettuce .20c,a family of four could have dinner at home (steak,fish,pork or chk) for 15 dlls

Property taxes 150 USD per year

Private school 4,000 -7000 school year,uniforms and books extra,public school is free add supplies and uniforms.There are a few very good public schools but most are not ,and the good ones have very long waiting lists so private school is a must for a good education,there are many to choose from.

Bottom line: Tijuana-Rosarito is among the most expensive areas in Mexico to live in because of high cost of utilities and gasoline (my electric does not include air cond. or heating,that would double or triple the bill) ,but for Americans especially from the State of California,the low cost of housing,food and low taxes makes it a bargain.

Hello- I was wondering how the price of tools compare to that in the U.S. We had all ours stolen (we live in costa rica), and they're expensive here, almost double U.S. prices. We're going to cancun mexico next week. Think they may be cheaper there?
