Default Riga, Latvia, European Union

I live in the centre of Riga in my own apartment 200m2, I have 7 big rooms, 3 bathrooms, the house is 120 years old and is very beautiful, it looks like a palace but it has an elevator and 6 stores, I live on the 4th - its 3rd in Germany and Britain, the year tax is 250 EUR monthly

I pay 150 EUR and 100EUR for gas, because it has its own gas heating system,

internet and phone cost 15 EUR a month.

To park my car beside the house I have to pay 60 EUR a month, but I dont use the car often, everything is nearby,so the petrol cocts me not more than 100 EUR a month.

The food is not cheap but is very good and natural in Latvia, I myself prefer restaurants and cafes, I spend abot 300 EUR for food a month, but I eat everything I want, caviar also.

My daughter goes to the best school in Latvia, and I pay 40 EUR for it, medicine for her is free, and I visit only a dentist,to heal a tooth cocts 100 EUR at most.

The place where I live is very convenient for living, and comparing to other places in Europe is rather cheap!

Although it is expensive to live in Riga, especially Old Riga, Āgenskalns (part of the city) is very nice place to live. You can get to any other parts of city by walking or bus/tram easily. Smaller apartments rent is higher, because utilities isn't so expensive as bigger apartments utilities. This part of the city has lots of museums and cafes.

I live in Āgenskalns and I can say it\'s quet place. It has lots of parks. If you don\'t want to rent an apartment, you can live in a hotel. In Āgenskalns you can stay at Maritim hotel of Radisson Daugava. Another Radissons are at the city center. Although it\'s dangerous at night in Āgenskalns, you will meet people that will help you if you will need it.

Here is what I pay to live in my neighborhood :
Rent : 200, for 2 bedroom apartment. Utilities around 100 lats at winter. Transportation 0,70 lats for tram or bus if you buy the ticket directly from the driver. I recommend to rent a bike. You have to buy a special card which allows you to get the bike. Bikes are green and you can find them mostly next to hotels or the airport.
Food. The cost of food depends. It will be cheaper if you will eat at the restaurant ir cafe. Lets say 80 lats per month for food.

That's all, sorry for my english, i hope this helps!
