Paris, France
I live in central Paris, in the 6th district and its very expensive! We live in a 95 mc2 apt with gas heating / elevator / within walking distance from train station and other forms of transport.
I love the location, but you pay the full price...matter of fact, if you're in central Paris, there's very little need for a car. Already, parking on the street is next to impossible, and if you find a spot is 90 cents for 15 minutes! PUblic transport in Paris is cheap compare to other major world capitals. You can buy a 10 ticket pack for 12.70 euros. Food is very expensive...fresh food is out of price...however, the price goes down a bit, once you step out of the touristic districts. School and healthcare is of excellent service. My daughter goes to preschool from 8:30 to 4:30. Plus, there's an after-school program ( free to my child ) until 6:30pm for parents that work late. Healthcare, can't complain. It takes me no more than 1 week for me to see a doctor or a specialist.
Below I have calculated my monthly home expenses, this in not including all the insurances that you must for just about everything in France.
Mortgage 2560 euros
Utilities 300 euros
Food 1000 euros
Healthcare 300 euros
Education 300 euros
Recreation 400 euros
I hope this info helps a person who may be thinking to moving to Paris...Paris is a great place to live, but it's as expensive as all major world capitals>
