Default Denver, Colorado

3 bedroom town house 1400 sq ft Mortgage 1500.00 per month plus 350.00 HOA dues.
Utilities: 120.00 per month in winter, 80.00 per month in summer
phone service: 125.00 for 2 cell phones and a landline
cable tv: 75.00 for premium HD satellite.
food: probably 300.00 to 400.00 per month plus eating out another 300.00 or so.
healthcare 350.00 plus copays of 20.00 if you go to the doctor.
Insurance, life car home 100.00 per month.
Transportation: 80.00 per month for gas, 25. per year for car registration, my car is payed off so no car payment otherwise add another 150.00 to 250.00 per month for that
This is divided between 2 persons, 1 person pays 1/3 of mortgage the other 2/3.
So I come up with 1585.00 per month, not including credit card payments or entertainment expenses. Granted cable tv is alot of your entertainment in this lifestyle.

Default Denver, Colorado, USA

We are a single income family with 4 kids, an extended family member living in our basement, and a tight budget. Our neighborhood/area of Denver is inexpensive compared to the rest of Denver proper, but you can get more house/yard for the same money in several suburbs. It is a quiet, family friendly neighborhood where I feel safe with my young kids. Having 7 people and a 90 lb dog in our small house is unusual for the area.

Southeast Denver monthly costs
mortgage: $1400 (3 br, 1 bath, 1500 sq ft)
Gas/Electric: $115
Cell Phone: $120 (2 phones, 1 with data plan)
Water: $40
Internet: $35
We don't have a land phone line or cable.
Gas is about $3.40/gal right now

Groceries are variable, depending on how often our additional family member eats with us. My goal is to spend $400-450/month on groceries, but we rarely eat out and always pack our own lunches, etc. That keeps us well fed. Recereational costs are purely as we can afford them, and are nearly always accomplished via coupons, sales, etc so I can't speak to general costs of those things.
