Essentially very inexpensive to live her in Shenzhen, although, Shenzhen is considered by most Chinese to be one of the more expensive cities in China to live. There is a wide range of living standards here in Shenzhen to meet the individual taste and budget. In my case I've resided in the midrange apartment at 5,500 RMB to the up scale apartment at 13,000 RMB to my now modest (but comfortable) two bedroom at 3,000 RMB.
