Beijing, CHINA
Rent- about $US1,000 per month for a nice one bedroom apt. downtown.
Utilities are included in my rent
Food- I eat at work a lot and very little at home. A Subway sub is about $6. A decent restaurant is $10- $15. A nice restaurant $25 and up.
Healthcare paid mainly by my insurer. I go to the expensive ex-pat hospitals and a recent physical, which was quite thorough and took about an hour, cost my insurer about $400.
Recreation- a beer costs about $4- 7 depending on the bar and the type of beer. A large Starbucks "coffee of the week" is $3. I don't really go for massages so I don't know the exact price, but they are real cheap.
Transportation- taxis are cheap. It takes about 25 minutes for the ride to work (when there is no traffic) and it costs about $12. There are bike lanes EVERYWHERE if you ride.
Other than rent, Beijing is pretty affordable.
