Costs of living in Santiago, CHILE


Rent: $658, for a bedroom in a moderately-sized three bedroom Second-floor in a three-floor walk-up.

Utilities: roughly $30-50 a month.

Transportation: $40 every two months

$500-800/month for food.

- Rent: 480 US$ for an old apartment, well located close to subway, parks and restaurants. 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living, kitchen.

-Utilities: about 300, included gas, electricity, cable, internet (ADSL), telephone (residential)

- Transportation: About 30 from/to work using public transportation.

- Fuel: about 1 dollar per liter, if you use the highways you can pay between 40 and 180 dollars per month (depends on how far/often you drive)

- parking: from 60/month depends where is the parking located (the most expensive can cost 150/month)

- Food and others in supermarket (shampoo, soap, detergent, etc.) a family of 4 eating fruits, vegetables, meat (chicken, cow), bread, cereal, yogurt, milk, baby food, diapers, etc.. about 400 / month

- fast food or lunch-break (on week days) roughly 120/month.

- restaurant (nice and fancy) from 75 two persons with main dish, dessert, wine and other drinks..... an expensive one can cost 250

- clothes: jeans: about 55 or 60 each. pants (dockers) 58. t-shirt: around 35, shirth (formal) between 30 and 100, shoes (something formal not expensive but good quality) 70.

- Cafe mocha grande in Starbucks: around 5
