Rent - you can rent a two bedroom condo for about $1100 per month (approx 800 sq ft) including gas and electric.

Houses - you can buy a typical 3 bed detached house for about $450,000 (2000 sq ft) in a nice neighborhood

Utilities - you will pay about $80 per month water, $80 per month elecric and $130 per month gas heating - in winter months. This of course depends on usage but these rates are for a busy 7 person family in a 2300 sq ft home

Transportation - some parts of the city have train service and a monthly pass is about $75 per month. Also buses are included in this pass. But you need a car.

Food - I feed 7 on approx $200 per week.

Dec 2008.
