Rent: 800 CAD for average size 2 room apartment - fully furnished, but not modern or luxurious. Close to downtown.
Utilities: Included in the rent.
Transportation: I get everywhere on my bike. I don't leave downtown very often.
Food: 75-100 CAD. We are quite modest and we don't spent money on junk food. We eat a lot of fruit and vegetable, chicken, fish, eggs, low fat dairy and whole wheat products. Food basics is the cheapest grocery store.
Prices in restaurants are different it depends on your lifestyle. You can find a nice restaurant and have dinner for 2 people from 35 dollars.

I find it quite expensive, because I am originally from Prague - Czech republic. Food and alcohol is way cheaper over there. Rents are about the same.

Rent: Approx. 600-800 for a one or two bedroom apartment in a safe and secure area of the city

Utilities: Approx. 50 dollars per month for utilities, although this price jumps much higher in the winter months, when heat must be turned on

Healthcare: Many services are included in Canada's health plan, but many citizens pay heavily in taxes.

Recreation and food really depend on each individual person, but it is very easy to live frugally here if need be.
