- Rent: 775 1 bdm, decent apartment, 10-20 mins from downtown,

- Utilities included - when in my house in Ottawa with electric heat, the hydro bills were over $1000 sometimes (billed very 2 months)

- Transportation: bus, student bus pass about $60/month

- $300-$500/month groceries for 2 people...going out for a dinner for two with drinks will run you at least $100, but you can grab a good bite to eat for under $10 if you look for it

- Expect to pay a lot more for vices than elsewhere in the world...a pack of cigarettes is about $10, and you pay about $1 an ounce for alcohol in the store, about $5 at the bar

- And if you're working here, be prepared to lose about 20-30% of your paycheck to taxes (unless you're a student, then you get a lot of grace)
