Monthly averages. Housing is crazy expensive in Vancouver with 600sq ft appartments in the suburbs at $400K and 2000 sq ft single family homes in reasonable areas at $900,000+

This is monthly for a single male, living in a reasonable area about 40 min from downtown

housing $2500

utilities $150

Food $500

Gas $400

My City is one of the most expensive in the world for rent and food and entertainment, but this is off set by anumber of benefits the gov. of Canada provides for seniors. Health care is very low, and we get discounts on transportation, movies, parks and other civic events. I think you need about 30,000 per year to live with out financial pressure in Vancouver. But if you move to the Okanagan or the Kootneys it is about 10-40% lower.

Rent=1400/mo,

Utilities= 300/mo

food+500/mo

Health Care 700/mo

recreation 300/mo
