Thumbs up Sofia, BULGARIA

I do not pay a rent as I have an own flat (comparatively with US there are only few people renting here as they own the place they live) 1100 sq.f. (108 sq.m) but if it was to be rented the rent would be abt 600 usd / monthly as it is in very central good place.

For water I pay 5-6 usd /month

for electricity 24-28 usd/m

for cable TV (abt 80 programs) 12 usd/m and high speed internet abt 11 usd/m

for central heating and hot water 52 usd/month ,

for common expences and cleanliness of the building 1,5 usd per living person / month my family is 3 persons so I pay 4,5 usd/m .

In the same flat I have my working place so I do not use transportation but a ticket in the municipal bus , tram or tube is 0,7 usd and if you buy a pass for a month for all the transport it is abt 28 usd.

I pay for a parking place on the street in front of my home 49usd/year (4 usd/month) but this is a privilege as I am an owner here.

Health insurance I do not pay as I believe it is a fraud but a visit to a private doctor (good specialist is 10-15 usd. This year I made an operation(with 3 specialist doctors and 3 nurses for about an hour) and stayed 2 days in a good hospital alone in a room and that cost me 570 usd . It could be more if I was in even better hospital but not more than 1000 usd

Food: If you buy at grocery and cook yourself it will cost you about from 140 to 220 usd for two member family / month a visit for 2 in a restaurant (not in McDonald's but a real restaurant ) could cost 30-45 usd or from abt 15usd/person. Generally speaking food is more natural and with no hormones or other chemicals .

A family of 2 needs to live descent middle class life 1000-1200 usd or at least 600usd per person alone but here in Sofia which is the capital of the country and is more expensive. I know small towns where a family of 2 could live with 430-460 usd/m or 230 usd/person/month which is realy cheap.

A box of 20 cigarettes is costing 2 usd and a Cuban cigar( a real one not other Latin American origin) is 3-4 USD.

A bottle of good brand wine is costing from 6-10-14 usd

A ticket to the opera is from 3-4 usd to 10-12 usd . Ticket for a central good theater is up to 8-9 usd . A ticket to a new film in central movies is the same price.
