Default Florianopolis, SC, BRAZIL

No mortgage because I paid cash for House and Car. Food costs are very low. 9 BRAZILAN Reals for a nice bottle of domestic wine, made by Italians in the south of Brazil. Bananas around 1.4US PER BUNCH. Coffee and eggs are very, very inexpensive.

Gasoline is about 7.50 USD per gallon. Any out of country item, CDs, Shampoo, Car parts, perfume, mascara, athletic shoes, clothes, is prohibitively expensive because of taxes. Property taxes are very low, you are not required to have car insurance,

dentist, doctor, etc. etc. are also not expensive. There is free medical care, if you want to wait. If you go to a doctor as a PRIVATE PATIENT, YOU CAN GET IN THE NEXT DAY, BUT BE PREPARED TO PAY $100.00 FOR THE VISIT. EVEN CONTACT LENS ROM THE USA ARE EXPENSIVE.

If you want a nice , inexpensive life, but with lessor quality items, Brazil is one of the best places on Earth. and FLORIANOPOLIS, was listed as the best place to live in Brazil. It is an Island, connected to the mainland by one bridge, very safe for foreigners.

Default moving to Floripa

I'm also an American who speaks Portuguese and desires to possibly move to Florianapolis in the near future. Does anyone know of any jobs(other than teaching English) for Americans there? Is the rent there inexpensive? What kind of visa is required to work/live there? What kind of transportation is there on and around the island?
